GAC Expands Presence with Inaugural Office Launch in Seoul

GAC Group, a prominent player in shipping, logistics, and marine services across the Asia-Pacific region, has marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its premier office in Seoul. This strategic move underscores the firm’s dedication to fortifying its operations to cater to the burgeoning and dynamic South Korean market.

South Korea stands tall in the global shipping arena, contributing over 10% of worldwide maritime trade. Forecasts by the Korea International Trade Association predict a robust 7.9% surge in exports, amounting to a staggering US$680 billion in 2024, coupled with a 3.3% rise in imports within the same timeframe.

Daniel Nordberg, GAC’s Group Vice President for Asia Pacific & Indian Subcontinent, expressed optimism about the venture, stating, “We see great potential for growth in the Korean market and are committed to expanding our services while seeking synergies with our operations in the region.”

Having partnered with local entities for more than three decades, GAC Group’s decision to establish a foothold in Seoul signifies confidence in the market’s potential. Nordberg emphasized, “The opening of our new office in Seoul is a testament to our belief in the potential of the Korean market.” He added, “The time is now right to establish a stronger local presence to build solid relationships with customers.”

South Korea’s ambitions to harness renewable offshore wind energy to achieve its net-zero targets are driving substantial investments in the sector. With plans to install 14.3 GW of offshore wind power by 2030, the nation’s supply chain is poised for significant growth. GAC Korea’s strategic positioning in Seoul positions it to capitalize on these developments, offering comprehensive services to clients in both the shipping and renewable energy domains.

Overseeing the operations of the new office is Keun Jeong Lim, a seasoned veteran with 34 years of global shipping industry experience. Lim articulated the company’s vision, stating, “Our aim is to become the trusted partner for shipping companies, leveraging our deep understanding of the local market alongside GAC’s global expertise.”

With its eyes set on fostering seamless operations and enhancing efficiency in the Korean shipping sector, GAC Group’s entry into Seoul’s maritime landscape marks a pivotal moment in its journey towards global leadership.
