Glomar Offshore Achieves 28% CO2 Reduction with GoodFuels HVO30

Dutch offshore drilling services provider Glomar, has successfully slashed its CO2 emissions by 28% through the adoption of GoodFuels HVO30, a revolutionary sustainable marine biofuel blend. This transition represents a noteworthy stride in Glomar’s enduring collaboration with FincoEnergies.

Sailing Towards a Better World Together

Glomar embarked on its sustainability journey years ago, initially incorporating FincoEnergies’ ChangeXL additive, resulting in a commendable 1,006,892 kg CO2 reduction in 2023. Building on this commitment, Glomar has now transitioned from conventional marine fuels to GoodFuels HVO30, with aspirations to integrate this eco-friendly alternative across its entire fleet by the end of the year.

The first successful delivery of GoodFuels HVO30 in January has already yielded an additional 28% reduction in CO2 emissions, showcasing Glomar’s dedication to making a positive environmental impact.

Providing Decarbonization Solutions for the Maritime Industry

FincoEnergies, Glomar Offshore’s trusted decarbonization partner, played a crucial role in facilitating this transition. Mike Visser, Sales Manager at FincoEnergies, expressed pride in propelling Glomar towards a more efficient and sustainable future. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “We believe collaborating with our customers is key to driving impactful change in the maritime industry.”

FincoEnergies not only offers expert insights on sustainable marine biofuels but also calculates potential CO2 reductions and provides comprehensive technical advice for a smooth transition. The partnership between FincoEnergies and Glomar aims to further decarbonization, with plans to switch to an even higher HVO blend next year.

Continuous Commitment to Sustainability

Melvin Weij, COO at Glomar Offshore, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re committed to reducing our ecological impact, striving for a greener, more sustainable future.” He emphasized the significant milestone achieved through the transition to GoodFuels HVO30, praising the fact that it is a drop-in fuel, allowing direct use without modifications to the ship’s infrastructure or engine.

Weij highlighted the unique energy demands and challenges in the maritime industry, acknowledging FincoEnergies’ guidance throughout the transition. Looking ahead, Glomar’s next decarbonization goal involves switching to an even higher blend, HVO40, with dedicated support from their partner, FincoEnergies.

This collaborative effort signifies a powerful commitment to sustainability within the maritime industry, setting an example for others to follow suit.
