Abu Dhabi Ports (AD Ports) is taking center stage in Africa’s energy sector development, with its CEO, Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, set to speak at African Energy Week (AEW) 2023. This premier event, scheduled for October 16-20 in Cape Town, is a testament to the critical role that modern port infrastructure and logistics services play in advancing energy development across the African continent.

Africa is rich in energy resources, encompassing oil, gas, and emerging sources like hydrogen. To fully harness these resources, collaboration with established and reliable port operations and logistics companies like AD Ports is essential. Shamisi, as the Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports, represents a company at the forefront of sustainable port infrastructure development and industrial logistics services worldwide.

At AEW 2023, Shamisi’s participation holds immense significance. It will showcase the opportunities in port infrastructure expansion and business ventures available in Africa, aligning with the continent’s pursuit of an energy renaissance and infrastructure revitalization.

Under Shamisi’s leadership, AD Ports has been pivotal in expanding and modernizing Africa’s port infrastructure. This includes collaborations with the governments of Somaliland and Ethiopia to transform the Berbera Port into a regional logistics hub and an agreement with Angola’s Ministry of Transport to optimize port operations. These developments support the sustainable growth of Africa’s energy markets.

AD Ports has also entered agreements with Egyptian logistics entities, further strengthening energy and commodity-related exports. The company’s expansion plans extend to Mozambique’s Maputo and Nacala ports and Ghana through a partnership with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. With AD Ports actively seeking new collaborations across Africa, AEW 2023 is a platform for Shamisi to engage with policymakers, infrastructure managers, and investors, fostering discussions and facilitating deals.

NJ Ayuk, the Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber (AEC), recognizes the crucial role AD Ports plays in enhancing port infrastructure and maritime trade in Africa. As African countries aim to accelerate energy exports amid economic growth targets, companies like AD Ports are pivotal in strengthening logistics and transport across the industry.

At AEW 2023, Shamisi will participate in high-level panel discussions, shedding light on AD Ports’ business interests within Africa’s thriving logistics, energy services, and infrastructure development sectors. With the theme ‘The African Energy Renaissance: Prioritizing Energy Poverty, People, the Planet, Industrialization, and Free Markets,’ AEW 2023 will provide exclusive networking sessions and deal-signings, showcasing AD Ports’ growth strategy in Africa.
