Roll Lift USA Honored with 2023 SC&RA Rigging Job of the Year Award

Roll Lift USA, part of Roll Group, is proud to announce that it received the prestigious 2023 SC&RA Rigging Job of the Year Award  for our successful replacement of the Trinity River Railroad Bridge in Liberty, TX.

The award was presented at the 2023 SC&RA Annual Conference Closing Night Awards and Recognition Dinner in Carlsbad, CA on April 21st .

The SC&RA Rigging Job of the Year Award focuses on ingenuity and adherence to standards, with an emphasis on safety, innovation, engineering, and consideration of limitations. Roll Lift USA won in the rigging category for projects between $750,000-$2 million.

Firms across the United States and around the world submit dozens of entries to the SC&RA Awards competition each year. The Awards program recognizes worldwide excellence in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industry.

Scope of Work

Roll-Lift USA furnished and operated its Liebherr LR11350 heavy lift crawler crane with super lift attachment for the lifting of the two existing old steel truss spans and of the three new Through Plate Girder (TPG) replacement spans.  Roll Lift USA also provided and operated appropriate service cranes and Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT) to facilitate execution of its work scope. The operations of the project began in May of 2022 and ended in August of 2022.

Most significantly, the actual changeouts were successfully executed within two 24-hour windows in order to minimize disruption and down time to Union Pacific’s railroad operations.

Congratulations to all the outstanding team members who worked on this project and contributed to this win.

Other Successes

In addition to the Job of the Year Award, Roll-Lift USA also won a Project Safety Award for exemplary safety performance (Zero incidents – injuries, illnesses, recordables, damage claims) during execution.

The winning continued as two Roll-Lift USA employees received additional recognition during the conference:

John Watkins (“Big John”) and David Isenberg (“Ice”) respectively received the 2023 Crane Operator Safety Award  and the 2023 Rigger Safety Award.  These SC&RA Awards are presented to certified operators who exhibit exemplary work achievements, accumulating minimum 10,000 consecutive man hours while recording zero accidents and incidents.

John and David, who both worked on the winning bridge changeout project, are without a doubt two of the top tier personnel operating in the crane & rigging industry today and fully exemplify Roll Group’s commitment to safety and excellence.

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association is an international trade association of more than 1,400 members from 46 nations.
