Saipem has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing the subsea production network required for Azule Energy’s Early Phase 2 development in the Agogo field, located offshore Angola.
The comprehensive scope of work undertaken by Saipem encompassed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) activities, including the meticulous pipelaying and construction of associated structures. The project involved the installation of two 16 km-long production pipe-in-pipe lines, an 8″ water injection line, an 8″ gas injection line, and an 18 km-long umbilical.
The fabrication phase was flawlessly executed at Angola’s Petromar Lda fabrication yard in Ambriz, while the offshore operations were efficiently carried out using Saipem’s state-of-the-art vessels, M.V FDS and M.V. Constellation.
An outstanding achievement of the Agogo 2 production system is its uniqueness. Not only does it operate at remarkable depths, but it also features the most advanced insulation technology ever employed in a pipe-in-pipe configuration. Saipem’s FDS utilized the J-lay installation method to successfully lay the pipe-in-pipe lines at water depths ranging from 1350 m to 1650 m.
The successful completion of the Agogo project marks a continuation of Saipem’s activities in Angola. The company has further committed to the Agogo Full Field development, as well as the Quiluma & Maboqueiro fields development project, situated off the northwest coast of Angola. These endeavors demonstrate the unwavering trust placed by customers in Saipem’s expertise in executing complex projects that encompass advanced technology and require meticulous logistics. Moreover, these projects are carried out with a strong emphasis on local content and adherence to the highest environmental sustainability standards.
