ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. has set sail towards an enhanced presence in Latin America with the inauguration of two services: ZIM Albatross (ZAT) and ZIM Gulf Toucan (ZGT). This strategic move is poised to fortify ZIM’s commitment to its clientele in Latin America by seamlessly integrating them into the expansive global network of the company.

In a groundbreaking maneuver, the ZIM Albatross service is all set to establish a premium direct link between North China, Korea, Mexico, and the West Coast of South America. Boasting a fleet of 4,250 TEU vessels, this service promises operational dexterity. Connections to and from Southeast Asia and the Indian sub-continent will be orchestrated via China. The inaugural voyage is scheduled to embark from China in December 2023.

The ZIM Gulf Toucan service, on the other hand, will bridge the East Coast of South America to the Gulf of Mexico and the United States. This service will feature the deployment of 2,800 TEU vessels. The intricate network will further extend connections to various ports in North America, the Caribbean, Central America, and the West Coast of South America, all orchestrated via ZIM’s regional hubs. The inaugural journeys are slated for January 2024.

The revamped routes for these services are as follows:

ZIM Albatross (ZAT):

  • Xingang – Qingdao – Shanghai – Ningbo – Busan – Lazaro Cardenas – Buenaventura – Guayaquil – Callao – San Antonio – Busan – Xingang

ZIM Gulf Toucan (ZGT):

  • Buenos Aires – Montevideo – Navegantes or Itapoa – Paranagua – Santos – Rio De Janeiro – Cartagena – Kingston – Veracruz – Altamira – Houston – Mobile – Kingston– Cartagena –Santos – Buenos Aires

These endeavors complement the earlier launch of the ZIM Colibri Express (ZCX) in July 2023, bolstering the company’s commitment to both new and existing customers in Latin America. Eran Epstein, ZIM VP of the Latin America Business Unit, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are very excited to add the ZIM Albatross and ZIM Gulf Toucan services to our growing network in Latin America. With these new services, we will be able to offer our customers in the region broader reach, coupled with ZIM’s signature customer service tailored to meet their specific needs.”
