DACHSER Sweden Expands Operations in Jönköping

DACHSER Sweden, a leading logistics provider, is set to establish its largest branch in the Nordic countries with a move to a facility in Jönköping. The new location boasts an impressive 1,600 square meters of office space, a sprawling 10,000-square-meter warehouse, and a 6,200 square meter cross-dock terminal equipped with 70 gates.

Since its inception in 2005, DACHSER Sweden has demonstrated remarkable stability and consistent growth. “We are building for the future. There is great potential for DACHSER in Sweden, which we are exploiting with the new building,” shares Carl-Johan Westas, Branch Manager of the DACHSER branch in Jönköping and Country Manager DACHSER Sweden European Logistics.

Having been based in rented premises on the outskirts of Jönköping since 2017, the move to the new location, scheduled for 2024, has become imperative due to the surge in shipments and staff. Jönköping’s central location between Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö, coupled with excellent connectivity to major transportation routes, promises enhanced efficiency in logistics operations and a positive impact on CO2 emissions. In fact, the Jönköping region earned the distinction of being named the third best logistics location in Sweden in 2023.

Elevating Contract Logistics in the Nordics

The highlight of the new facility is the colossal 10,000 square-meter warehouse, boasting a ceiling height of 12 meters. This space is poised to become the nerve center for DACHSER’s contract logistics in the Nordic network. The upgrade expands existing warehouse operations from 5,800 to a staggering 11,000 pallet spaces.

Fredrik Rånge, Contract Logistics Manager at the Jönköping branch, affirms, “We have outgrown our old premises. Now we are doubling the pallet spaces and connecting our warehouse to the cross-dock terminal to further optimize our processes.”

The planning of the new site prioritizes climate protection and an employee-centric work environment. The sustainable operation concept minimizes CO2 emissions, with energy for the building sourced from a photovoltaic system on the roof. Moreover, the construction phase took into account the use of electric trucks for transport. The modern layout features well-lit, spacious areas in both the cross-dock terminal and warehouse, along with an office space equipped with ergonomic workstations and ample natural light, making the new branch a highly attractive workplace for employees.

In a strategic move that underscores DACHSER’s commitment to growth and operational excellence, the expansion in Jönköping is poised to reinforce the company’s foothold in the Nordic logistics landscape.
