DP World & Asian Terminals Inc. Unveil the Philippines’ Biggest Passenger Facility at Batangas Port

In the maritime infrastructure of the Philippines as DP World and Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) proudly presented the new Batangas Passenger Terminal. This unveiling marked the completion of a two-year, US$25 million modernization project aimed at revolutionizing travel experiences for millions of Filipinos. The event was graced by distinguished guests including His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, along with key figures from DP World and ATI.

The Batangas Passenger Terminal, strategically located 110km from Manila, serves as the country’s largest inter-island hub, facilitating vital connections between mainland Luzon and key island provinces in Visayas and Mindanao. With a container terminal also in operation, Batangas Port plays a crucial role in supporting trade activities, particularly in the Calabarzon region, which contributes significantly to the Philippine GDP.

The modernization initiative, overseen by DP World and ATI, has doubled the terminal’s capacity, now capable of accommodating up to eight million passengers annually. This expansion not only addresses the growing demand for maritime transportation but also sets a new standard for comfort, safety, and convenience.

His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, expressed confidence in the project’s transformative impact, stating, “This project is an additional boost to enhance overall passenger experience, and I’m heartened by the trust which our partners have placed in us to help realize our shared vision of transforming Batangas Port to a world-class terminal.”

Eusebio Tanco, President of ATI, emphasized the importance of Batangas Port in the Philippine nautical highway system, highlighting the modernization project as a significant step towards enhancing marine transportation standards.

The modernized terminal, spanning 15,000 square meters, boasts state-of-the-art facilities including central air-conditioning, energy-efficient LED lighting, and a range of passenger services such as restaurants, shops, clean restrooms, and prayer rooms. Accessibility has been prioritized with infrastructure improvements, shuttle van services, and electric vehicles ensuring convenience for passengers of all abilities.

Beyond commercial objectives, DP World and ATI have committed to making a positive impact on the community through sustainability programs focusing on education, environmental conservation, and women empowerment initiatives.

DP World’s partnership with ATI dates back to 2006, contributing to the modernization of Batangas Port into a fully integrated gateway. With the completion of the passenger terminal modernization, Batangas Port further solidifies its position as a key asset in Philippine maritime infrastructure, poised to facilitate trade, tourism, and economic growth.
