Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), an esteemed international ship classification society, has joined forces with Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (MPUVNL) to sign a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at classifying and certifying Solar-Electric boats. This partnership is set to invigorate the Government of India’s vision of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ by promoting sustainability and bolstering the use of renewables.

MPUVNL, established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh as a nodal agency for implementing various renewable energy programs and policies, will benefit from IRS’s expertise in successfully completing all planned projects. The MOU’s scope encompasses a thorough technical review of specifications, inspection during construction, and certification of materials, components, and equipment. Furthermore, IRS will provide additional technical services, including document review and training for MPUVNL personnel.

The Chairman of MPUVNL, Shri. Giriraj Dandotiya, expressed his optimism about the partnership, stating, “The collaboration with IRS, our trustworthy partners, will immensely benefit us in achieving our goals.” It is evident that the subject matter expertise of IRS will be instrumental in the successful execution of their projects.

Shri. Vijay Arora, the Managing Director of IRS, also shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the organization’s commitment to providing high-quality technical services to enhance renewable energy usage. He extended his gratitude to Chairman – MPUVNL, Shri. Giriraj Dandotiya, for his pivotal role in conceptualizing and finalizing the MOU, as well as acknowledging the contributions of all senior officials at MPUVNL.

Shri. Karamveer Sharma, IAS, the Managing Director of MPUVNL, emphasized the significance of the MOU in harnessing solar potential through the services of a highly reputed technical body like IRS.
