In a strategic move towards sustainable growth,The Norwegian logistics company Tyrholm & Farstad AS has placed an order for a cutting-edge Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Crane. This acquisition is earmarked for their upcoming Flatholmen terminal in Ålesund, promising an uptick in capacity and a substantial reduction in carbon emissions. The order, confirmed in the third quarter of 2023, is slated for delivery in the second quarter of 2024.

This significant investment by Tyrholm & Farstad marks the inaugural crane acquisition for their Flatholmen terminal, demonstrating their commitment to expanding operations and catering to burgeoning local industry demands. Designed to seamlessly adapt to various cargo handling needs, the electric crane will facilitate the efficient management of both container and general cargo for the Møre og Romsdal region.

CEO of Tyrholm & Farstad AS, Jan Arve Hoseth, emphasized the importance of equipping their new terminal with state-of-the-art, eco-friendly machinery, stating, “Our new terminal is an important investment for the future, so we need efficient and sustainable equipment to support it. Konecranes could provide a future-proof mobile harbor crane that combines the best available lifting technology with an innovative electric drive concept and excellent backup support from their local partner. This convinced us that the Generation 6 would be the right choice for our new operation.”
